Polka Dot Begonia - Begonia Maculata

The Begonia species are named after 17th-century naturalist Michel Begon. The Polka Dot Begonia is named specifically after the polka dot variegation on their large wing-shaped leaves. This plant is not very fussy. It prefers bright indirect light but will tolerate low light. However, lower light may affect the variegation. These plants can produce beautiful pink flowers, even when grown indoors. They grow upright and can grow rather tall because of their cane-like stems. They are toxic to ingest so it is best to keep them out of reach. To propagate these plants you can use stem cuttings or division.
