Jade Plant - Crassula Ovata

The Jade plant is native to South Africa but can now be found in many dry areas of the world. The love of dry areas makes it perfect for those who often forget to water. The name Jade Plant comes from the smooth, jade-colored, succulent leaves. Like many other succulents, it prefers full sun. The Jade plant starts rather small and grows slowly. However, over time it becomes a dwarf-sized tree. It is also known to produce pink or white flowers under the proper conditions. I have not seen these flowers first hand but many people have luck with them. This plant is mildly toxic, and when under-watered leaves fall off easily so be aware. This plant is a very popular gift in some Asian cultures as it is thought to bring luck and money.
