English Ivy - Hedera Helix

Unlike many of the house plants in my collection, the English Ivy is native to Europe, Scandinavia, and Russia. The key to watering your ivy is to check the soil before watering. Ivy prefers soil on the slightly dry side so let the soil dry out on the top inch (at least) before watering. They prefer partial to full shade as bright light will burn the leaves. English Ivy is a very fast-growing plant. These plants are considered invasive in many areas because of how quickly they grow. If you would like to grow these plants outdoors it is HIGHLY recommended you use planters. In nature, they are often found as ground cover but also love to climb. They are notorious for damaging brickwork walls so be careful where you place your plants. They are toxic to ingest for pets and people so keep the trailing vines out of reach.
