Dragon Tree - Dracena Marginata

A good plant for the novice plant parent. They love full sunlight, low water, and low humidity. They will tolerate lower light conditions but it may affect the growth. These plants are drought resistant but can easily be overwatered, so less is more. In lower light settings you will need to water even less frequently. Always let the solid dry out completely between waterings to prevent root rot and fungus gnats. However, if you notice brown tips on the leaves it is a sign you need to increase the waterings. Many people use distilled water for this tree because they are susceptible to issues from hard minerals in the water. I, personally, find this to be too much work so I use filtered water. They make a great floor plant as they tend to grow leggy, tall, and upright. The Dragon Tree is a slow grower but can reach heights of 8 feet, even when grown indoors. They are native to Africa, South Asia, and Australia. The best way to propagate the Dragon Tree is through stem cutting.
