Chocolate Soldier - Kalanchoe Tomentosa

The plant gets the chocolate part of its name from the brown spots on the leaves. It is also known as the Panda Plant for its fuzzy texture. The plant does best in bright indirect light but has been known to survive under primarily artificial light. However, it often becomes leggy under lower light conditions. Like many other succulents, it does need a lot of water and does not like humidity. It is best to let the soil dry out completely between waterings. When underwatered leaves tend to dry out and fall often. If you are a pet owner you should be aware of this because these leaves are toxic. These plants are very easy to propagate. All you need to do is separate a few leaves and place them on the soil. Water them and before you know it roots will form. You can occasionally see aerial roots form on your succulent but this typically happens when underwatered.
