Chinese Evergreen - Aglaonema ‘Stripes’

The Chinese Evergreen is one of the first plants I recommend to new plant parents. It requires low to moderate light, moderate watering, and medium humidity. It is best to let the soil dry completely between waterings. However, they are a very tolerant plant so if you can not replicate the ideal environment this plant is likely to survive. They have even been known to survive with consistent fluorescent light. Although in lower light settings it has been known to become leggy and leaves grow smaller. This plant is known for its air-purifying properties but it is toxic to ingest for both humans and pets. This plant is native to the tropics of Asain. In Asain cultures the Chinese Evergreen has been known as a luck-bringing plant for centuries. If you are looking to propagate and gift some luck to others stem cuttings is my recommended method.
