Boston Fern - Nephrolepis Exaltata Var. Bostoniensis

Boston ferns are a bushy and lush plant when correctly cared for. However, many find caring for these plants does require a green thumb. They require moderate watering and bright, indirect light. The issue most people have is maintaining the correct humidity, which they need a lot of. Good ways to maintain the correct humidity are to line the tray with pebbles, mist the plant regularly, or purchase a humidifier and keep it near your plant. This need for humidity makes sense given that Boston Ferns are native to tropicals of Asia, Africa, Central America, and the West Indies. If underwatered the foliage will dry, brown, and fall off. As you can see from my fern, I occasionally struggle with maintaining the correct moisture levels. Luckily these plants are good at bouncing back. Division is best to propagate plants. Boston ferns are preferred by pet owners because they are not toxic.
